Who We AreLakeland-Andover School (LAS) is a private non-profit day school providing special education programs for 7th - 12th graders with emotional and behavioral challenges. We have been offering state approved, success-oriented academic and vocational programs since 1972. Mission Statement:Lakeland Andover School respects that each student is an individual with unique talents and abilities who can benefit from and enjoy a stimulating educational program designed specifically to meet his or her needs. Therefore, the school strives to provide quality individualized education plans to students in a caring, creative environment, while facilitating the social, emotional, physical, behavioral, and intellectual development of each student. Beliefs Statement:The Lakeland-Andover School believes that:
Our Students:Our program is for students in 7th -12th grades, classified with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges. Some students come to us directly from their public school, on grade level, looking for college preparation courses. Others have a history of challenges at other schools, may have been diagnosed with a learning disability, and are looking to develop strategies to succeed with their educational and behavioral challenges. Some families pay privately to have their son/daughter attend our school. This happens in cases where families feel their child would benefit from our program but their school district believes the program offered in district is sufficient to meet the student's needs and is not obligated to send the student out of district. Program DescriptionOn average we enroll 35-40 students in our program and class sizes vary from 4-12 students. Classes are staffed with a certified teacher and an instructional aide. Our low student-to-staff ratio allows us to individualize each student's program to meet their needs. Programs vary from remedial work and daily living skills, to a focus on college preparation.
